Wearing bunker gear in a water rescue could hinder a rescuer's ability to maneuver effectively and could also pose a safety risk, as it is not intended for aquatic environments. This highlights the importance of using appropriate gear that is suited for the type of rescue operation being conducted. In water rescue scenarios, more suitable options would include a wetsuit or drysuit, which are designed to keep rescuers warm and free to move while operating in water.

Other choices do not align with standard operational guidelines. Wearing bunker gear for training would also be inappropriate if the training involves scenarios that require agility and buoyancy, which are better supported by specialized water rescue gear.
